I was born in Testaccio, the vibrant heart of Rome, on an autumn day in 1969—a year full of revolutions: the moon landing (or was it?) and the birth of ARPANET, the precursor to the Internet. Destiny or coincidence? Who knows.
After a school career that some call “excellent”—and I humbly confirm—I graduated as an Industrial Technician specializing in Computer Science from ITIS G. Armellini in Rome in 1988. University? Not my thing, so I quickly left it behind to dive straight into the workforce.
At 19, I started my journey at IBM, an adventure that lasted until I was 36. Then I decided to follow my heart and dedicate myself to my two great passions: the Internet and travel. Since then, I’ve been living proof that being a true “digital nomad” is possible, balancing work and the discovery of the world.
My life is a blend of work, family, and cats (yes, quite a few cats). I split my time between Rome, my hometown, and Silkeborg, Denmark, which I consider my second home. There are also regular trips to Flensburg, Germany, where a piece of my family and heart reside. We’ve also lived in Malta and Cyprus before returning to Italy for a while.
Today, I continue to explore, work, and live with the firm belief that curiosity and passion are life’s most powerful drivers.
After 35 years of a career in IT, specializing in security and disaster recovery, I decided to turn a twenty-year hobby into a new career path: thus, my publishing agency, Storie Spettinate, was born.I continue to work in IT, but in a different capacity: project management, consulting, and training. With Storie Spettinate, I focus on writing, proofreading, editing, and podcasting. Here too, training is a strong point: sharing skills and passion is a fundamental part of what I do.Whether it’s developing an IT project or creating engaging content for a podcast, my goal remains the same: to offer quality and professionalism with a creative touch.
I am “hopelessly devoted” to Open Source. Open source as a “mindset,” as a way of life.
